History

Children are said to be one of the most important assets of the nation. As such everybody should take the effort to promote his welfare and enhance his opportunities to have a useful and happy life. But how can we lead a child in having a useful and happy life? Different answers will probably surface but the very basic is giving him proper education.

Our children deserve better education. No matter how good our school is, they must become even better tomorrow. Educational needs must be met in order to cope in a fast changing world. On the other hand, educators must create a spirit of caring. They must care about the students and how well they are learning. They must care about the community and how it is by providing an excellent education for students. But, how can an excellent be provided?

In answer, the government is providing different programs to be sure that the students will receive excellent education. Programs on the development of curriculum, staff, facilities and other aspects, which lead to materialization of its vision and goals, are continuous. However it seems that problems on the above key results areas remain due to the present economic condition.

Education is identified to be the most important tool to programs. This is the main reason why basic education is free in most all countries of the world and the Philippines is offering the same. Basic education in this country is not only in the elementary level but as well as in the secondary as stipulated in Republic Act 6655. In order to carry out the objectives of free education the Department of Education formulated different programs and projects and one of these is a high school in every municipality. This is to bring access to education. However, in some towns and cities densely populated and compromising a vast area, a single high school is not enough to serve the population. A need to establish are in places where it is most needed is necessary.

There was only one public high school in Antipolo. With rapid growth of population of the school, the city mayor opened extension school in the different barangay to decongest the enrollees. Cupang Extension is one of the extension high school built during the time of Mrs. Melinda O. Gedang.

Cupang National High School started its operation as an extension of Antipolo National High School S.Y. 2002-2003. There were 8 teachers and 465 enrollees. EJ Ville Corp. donated the school site to the City government with the land size of 2, 446 sq. m. A building of four classrooms was constructed for use through the effort of the City Mayor Angelito C. Gatlabayan.

On the summer of year 2003, the Teacher-In-Charge of the school worked-out on the turn over of the deed of donation from the city government in favor of the Department of Education. She also requested for the separation of Cupang Ext. from Antipolo National High School to be an independent school. Fortunately after five months of completing all the requirements the Director of Region IV – A CALABARZON signed the papers on July 25, 2003. Cupang Ext. is already an independent school. And now it is called Cupang National High School.
